Mangere was hit hard by the Auckland Anniversary weekend flood, it caused extensive loss across homes and community and we know many of you still have questions regarding what happened, and what work is being done to reduce the risk of floods for Mangere in the future. So we reckon it is time to come together as a community and invite you to our series of Street Chats - Voices of Our Flooded Neighbourhoods.
Street Chats organisers, I AM Māngere, have arranged for friendly staff from the organisations involved in Auckland’s recovery to offer further flood related support.
Staff from Auckland Council, Auckland Emergency Management and Kāinga Ora will be there to listen to your experiences, answer your questions and hear your concerns.
Kicking off 19 August, 12pm – 2pm, on the corner of Elmdon St and Watchfield Cl, there will be free kai, free coffee and plenty of fun activities for the kids.
Street Chats are Mangere’s very own safe-space, community pop up events.
Please keep an eye on the ‘I AM Māngere’ Facebook page on the day of our Street Chat events, as if it is raining we will move to an indoor location.
See you there!
