Development in Aorere is well underway. We’re replacing approximately 140 social houses with around 470 new social, affordable and market homes, and we’re also replacing a huge amount of valuable infrastructure - like water services and power connections, footpaths, roads and more.
Winthrop Road (between each end of Courtenay Crescent) will be closed from Monday 8 April for approximately two months. The upcoming construction work will include:
- Common Service Trenching for utilities
- Streetscaping to improve the ngahere (trees and planting)
With so much work going on, we will need to temporarily close a small section of Winthrop Way to through-traffic. We will maintain residents’ access to their homes and keep everyone safe while allowing construction to progress as quickly and smoothly as possible.
A temporary traffic management plan will be in place to guide pedestrians and vehicles through the area, as well as in and out of private property.
Check out the frequently asked questions below. If you need further information, please pop into the Mangere Development Information Centre at 12 Waddon Place between Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we carry out important work to ensure Aorere remains a great place to live, now and in the future.
