Overview

The Aorere neighbourhood sits between Mangere East and Papatoetoe and shares amenities with its neighbouring suburbs. Residents of Aorere are just down the road from Papatoetoe’s main street, Hunters Plaza shopping centre and both Papatoetoe and Middlemore Train Stations.

Locals have close access to Aorere Park and Walter Massey Park in Mangere East and Kohuora Park in Papatoetoe. Schools in the area include Kingsford Primary School, Kedgley Intermediate and Aorere College. Toddlers are well catered for between Aorere Kindergarten and Aorere Childcare Centre. Also nearby is the EFKS (Ekalesia Faapotopotoga Kerisiano Samoa) Christian Church.

Vision

The Mangere Development will increase the number of homes available to buy or rent in Aorere. We’ll be using the land more efficiently so that we replace the number of Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities homes, as well as providing new homes for the Auckland housing market.

About a third of the new homes will be new social homes. The balance will be a 50/50 mix of more affordable homes, including long-term rentals, as well as homes that will be sold on the general market. There will be a mixture of standalone homes, terrace homes and apartments. The new homes will be warm, dry and healthy, with double glazing, insulation and modern materials and fittings inside and out.

At the same time, we’re upgrading infrastructure and amenities so that public places and essential services are brought up to date and made safer and more durable. The investment in Aorere will enable locals to remain in Mangere, bring new people and jobs to the area and improve the amenities in the neighbourhood. More families and students will also help the local schools grow and provide greater support for local businesses.
